How to play Pokédle
Pokédle has seven daily Pokémon games. Each has its own rules, here's how every one works, plus a few tips to keep your streak alive.
Draw That Pokémon
You get the name (and typing) of a daily Pokémon, then 60 seconds to draw it from memory. Your masterpiece gets a 0–100 score, a verdict, and is saved to My Cards as its own trading card.
Tips
- Block in the silhouette first, body shape carries more points than detail.
- Use the type colors as a shortcut: a red‑orange blob reads as Fire before any line work.
- Don't panic about ugly, the verdicts are funniest when you commit to the bit.
Guess That Pokémon
A zoomed‑in Pokémon image starts the round. The image zooms out a bit with each wrong guess. Name the Pokémon in six tries.
Tips
- Look for distinctive colors and silhouette edges first, they often give away type.
- If the eye or mouth is visible, it usually narrows the answer dramatically.
- Don't waste a guess on a starter unless you're confident, there are many.
Pokémon Cry Quiz
Press play and listen to the Pokémon's cry. Type your guess and you get six tries.
Tips
- Use headphones, the pitch and length of the cry are the biggest clues.
- Older Gen 1–2 cries are short and noisy; later‑gen cries are usually more melodic.
- Replay the cry as many times as you need; there's no penalty.
Pokédex Trivia
You'll see a real Pokédex entry with the Pokémon's name replaced by ____. Identify it in six tries.
Tips
- Habitat and behavior keywords are the strongest clue, desert, ocean, mountain.
- Body parts mentioned (tail, horn, wings, shell) narrow the species fast.
- Numbers, height, weight, age, often appear verbatim in only a few Pokédex entries.
Higher or Lower (Base Stat Total)
Two Pokémon are shown side‑by‑side. Pick the one with the higher base stat total. 10 rounds, 2 mistakes allowed.
Tips
- Pseudo‑legendaries (Dragonite, Garchomp, Hydreigon, etc.) almost always win.
- Legendaries usually have a BST of 580 or 600+, bet on them.
- Cute basic forms (Pichu, Cleffa, Magikarp) almost always lose.
Spot the Shiny
Four versions of the same Pokémon, only one is the real shiny. Pick it. 10 rounds, 3 mistakes allowed.
Tips
- Look for the unexpected color, not just any color change.
- Shinies often shift hue dramatically (blue→pink) rather than darken or lighten.
- If two recolors look plausible, pick the one with sharper contrast.
Route Quiz
Six Pokémon spawn on the same route in the classic games. Pick the route from the options. 5 rounds, 3 mistakes allowed.
Tips
- Group the Pokémon by region first, Kanto, Johto, or Hoenn.
- Water Pokémon in the list usually mean a coastal or surf‑accessible route.
- Cave Pokémon (Zubat, Geodude, Onix) point to a tunnel or Mt. route.
